The NGO Biosfera, based on the island of São Vicente, in Cape Verde, has been developing and strengthening its skills for 15 years, in favor of the protection of coastal and marine resources, throughout the territory. More than 23 employees are now committed to overcoming the environmental challenges that weigh on our biodiversity.

The objectives
The new 2020-2025 strategy relies on :
– Garantir la conservation des espèces côtières et marines (tortues et oiseaux marins, requins, reptiles terrestres…)
– Protéger les habitats marins et côtiers
– Réduire les macro pollutions qui mettent en péril les espèces et les habitats marins
– Motiver les communautés et le public à jouer un rôle proactif dans la protection de l’environnement
– Veiller à ce que Biosfera soit une organisation de premier plan en matière de conservation de l’environnement
Our actions
- Study, monitor and protect sites with high biodiversity value ;
- Initiate the creation of marine protected areas and their co-management ;
- Encourage fishermen, wholesalers and restaurants to respect the rules of responsible fishing ;
- Organize beach clean-up campaigns and initiate waste recycling ;
- Develop citizen mobilization campaigns.
